Newbie here saying hi!
I’ve Got an Acer 35 running Desinator 3.0.75
First of all a big thank you to all the people who have posted on here and enabled me get to the speed camera stuff up and running!
I think that I have cracked the final stage of the puzzle and made it possible to select and change the range of the warnings on more than the allocated “Auto Alert 1” and “Auto Alert 2” and allow warnings at 200 metres/yards.
I would suggest that this is done from a clean starting point (delete all previous files etc.)
First off, as already posted download the database of cameras from
http://www.pocketgpspoi.com/downloads/pocketgps_uk_sc_jan06.zip
Unzip the files to a directory (matt in the examples) of your choice, use the following path to get to the files that we need.
matt\csv files\destinator3\
It is easy to see which file is which, I renamed them for convenience, it makes naming files later on a little easier:
Gatso
Redlight
Temp
Specs
Moblie
Use the Destinator console to convert them and download them to your pocket PC.
Now add the images, these are located in the following directory of the unzipped files used previously:
matt\ov2 bmp files\
Note that they are bitmap files 22x22, this is important if you want to use different images. If they are the wrong size Destinator gets them mixed up! Rename a symbol for each of the categories that you down loaded previously. For example:
Gatso.bmp
Redlight.bmp
Temp.bmp
Specs.bmp
Moblie.bmp
These need to be copied to the following directory of your pocket PC:
\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Common\Favorites
To enable audio warnings you need to also copy .wav files to the following directory, follow the naming convention (same name as the images and the speed camera .dat files).
Gatso.wav
Redlight.wav
Temp.wav
Specs.wav
Moblie.wav
I have borrowed some good voice files, will try and host them soon. In the mean time please email me them.
\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Common\Interface\Voice
I think that most of you have managed to reach this point. Now for the new bit, leave the DestinatorVoiceManoevers.ini file alone for the time being. Look in the following directory of the pocket PC:
\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Common\Interface\Visual\All
Drag the DetinatorMSG file to the desktop, make a back up called DesinatorMSG or similar. Edit the file is as follows (The first line of what is shown is 30 lines from the bottom of the file).
Original
IDS_DYNPOI_DEFAULT="My Favorites"
IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED="Auto Alert 1;Auto Alert 2"
IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED_DISTANCES="0;50;100;400;600;800;1000"
IDS_DYNPOI_FIRST_ALERTED_DISTANCE="First Alert"
IDS_DYNPOI_SECOND_ALERTED_DISTANCE="Second Alert"
IDS_DYNPOI_INI_FILE="FAVORITES.INI"
IDS_DYNPOI_ALERT_FILE="ALERT.INI"
Edited, changes shown in bold
IDS_DYNPOI_DEFAULT="My Favorites"
IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED="Auto Alert 1;Auto Alert 2;Gatso;Mobile;Redlight;Specs;Temp"
IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED_DISTANCES="0;50;100;200;400;600;800;1000"
IDS_DYNPOI_FIRST_ALERTED_DISTANCE="First Alert"
IDS_DYNPOI_SECOND_ALERTED_DISTANCE="Second Alert"
IDS_DYNPOI_INI_FILE="FAVORITES.INI"
IDS_DYNPOI_ALERT_FILE="ALERT.INI"
This will add the categories listed (all with the same name as the files that have been loaded on to the pocket PC) and enable two ranged warnings. This will also allow warnings at 200 metres/yards. Don’t be tempted to delete the “Auto Alert 1” & “Auto Alert “ definitions, doing so will result in the images been displayed out of sequence.
Now run Destinator & use the favourites menu to set the desired warning distances.
I will try and edit this and post it in more detail later, hopefully this should enable a few of you all to have a play though!

Sorry made a couple of typo's!
1. Can anyone edit the titke? I'm sure that range starts with a "r"!
2. Add the range 200 to the DesinatorMSG.ini file, I highlighted 100
3. Make the backup of DesinatorMSG with a different name, perhaps DesinatorMSG_backup |

Same result as zincalloy.
I tried extra entries in the IDS_DYNPOI_ALERTED. They appear on the favorites (sic) list with distances to choose but I only got voice alerts for the first two. Can anyone confirm they get voice alerts for more than the first two categories? |
