|
|
My current setup is an HP2210, TTN2, Royaltek Sapphire GPS (mouse) and a 1GB Microdrive.
I currently store my MP3s and Tomtom Maps on the Microdrive. My question is, would I get better results if I also got an SD card?
I've been toying with the idea of getting a 256MB x32 Lexar SD card to keep the maps on. Am I going to get faster response times / address lookups with solid-state memory??
If so, can anyone recommend a good memory supplier?
Thx for your help - Caspar |

How do you find MP3's play ? Do you play MP3's whilst using TTN2 ?
If you do and you get break-ups, then you will get better performance splitting across an SD and MicroDrive.
I use a 512mb SD and have all my apps and TTN2 installed, but use the 1GB MicroDrive purely for MP3 playing. I noticed because most of my MP3's are 60mb in size, that I'd get break-ups now and again.
If you're not seeing any performance problems, I'd stick with what you've got. SD is slower, but you won't notice it when use maps, but you will notice it sometimes with music. |

Dave, are you saying you run the actual TTN2 application from your SD card?
At the moment I have TTN2 installed in system memory and the maps are on a MMC card (in an HP Jornada). I assumed I wouldn't get away with running the app itself from the card, but I could do with freeing up some internal memory, so I might try this.... Do you reckon it'll work?
Cheers

I have TTN2 and the maps installed on an SD card. Performance is acceptable on my Toshiba e740, and *much* better than it was when I had it on a CF card.
