I've had a Blaupunkt satnav system (DXR-70) fitted in my old car for 5 years. Although it doesn't do postcodes it's been excellent.

The new car was going to have my Dell Axim x30 (624MHz) runing TT5 and a bluetooth receiver.

However, testing with a friend has shown that TT5 on the pda is between 50 and 100yards 'late' giving information out. One example is that even with the POI set to warn 300yards before a speed camera I'm right in the firing line of a head on camera before I get a warning. Another example is when driving around a housing estate, verbal turning info usually came just as I passed the turning, making the system useless where quite a few turnings occured in quick succession(e.g. cities, housing estates etc...). The Blaupunkt unit however gets everything just 'spot on' with regard to the speech alerts (except it doesn't do Cameras or postcodes Sad ) It's not that either system couldn't see enough satellites - at all times I was seeing at least 4, usually double that....

Is this just because the PDA software is slow, is it a function of the Bluetooth GPS receiver interface or is it just the way it is?

Any help/comments appreciated before I shell out megabucks...

TIA

Neil

My TT5 does run a bit slow when my POI's are turned on or I have lots of POI's ticked at once.

I have my POI's disabled but I always get the speed camera warnings even if the POI's is off & TT5 runs sweet & in real time with POI's turned off.

Try turning POI's off.

Good luck
