I'm lucky enough to be going to Whistler, BC, Canada for a week's skiing in April. I was hoping to use my PDA and GPS unit to record my max speed when skiing down a run. I've dug around these forums and Google but not come across anything that seems suitable for this. Can anyone suggest some software that could give me these details? Idealy I want to be able to switch my GPS and PDA on at the top of a run and then put them in my pocket. Then at the bottom of the run see what speed I got to.
TIA

Hi Tim, I currently use TomTom and I've got the Canadian maps for that so I can use my PDA while driving.

Klaus,
Have a look at my GPS Speed Sentry application, while its intended for car trips it works just as well for walking, running, cycling and of course skiing.
The only issue is that the speed/distance is calculated using horizontal movement only. This can have an effect when skiing since you are normally going down a steep slope - however since speed/distance is calculated in 1 second intervals it really shouldnt matter unless you are a really fast skiier.
Anyway, at least give it a try as there is a trial version.
Here is the link;

Ive had several requests for a "ski" specific version which I plan to do (when I have some free time - I have just moved cities and started a new job) so if you use if I would appreciate it if you could give me some feedback as to what was good/bad.
In fact if you are keen to help out send me an email and I will arrange a serial number for you to use for your trip.
Cheers

Hi tchart, I stumbled across your software in another thread. It looks very nice and hopefully it will be able to give me an idea of my speed. I'd happily do some testing for you when I'm away in April, you have mail ;)
