This is just too cool!

These two apps, one online and one desktop, will generate TT OV2s from a google search.

You can download the small utility here.

Or if you don't want to install anything, try its web version:

The sites were posted on GPSpassion by "iper" here:

The online link will work with Pocket Internet Explorer. Pocket IE doesn't have a "Save File" or "Download" feature but if you navigate to your Temporary Internet Files folder you can recover the files there. For TomTom just cut and paste the OV2 file to your current map directory.

If I understand correctly, the app uses Google. Maybe it just needs to be tweaked to point to Google UK and handle your addressing scheme.

Why don't you go to GPSpassion (links above), and PM the developer. He might be able to help.

Besides, before this app, we Gringos were very POI deficient. Iper's cool littl applet will help us catch up. :D

and another thing:

You can use POI Edit to merge files and search for duplicates.

If you go to the top of this thread and go to the the third link listed:

http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=49956

The developer says he uses google. I just repeated what he said as I assumed he knew.

AFAIK Google doesn't yet offer that API. I also looked inside the JAR file and it clearly links to Yahoo! Local, not to Google.

But that's academic - the result is nice nevertheless. and Yahoo! permits 5000 queries per day per IP address for non-commercial use so we should be safe.
