Hello all, new to this Sat-Nav business.

Inherited an Acer N30 and bought a Holox BT-321 from eBay.

Got it all working very easliy but I have noticed that the BT-321 has a Motorola style charger connection and I have noticed that all of the PDA/GSP charge cables that are available seem to have a round type connection.

Does anyone know:
Firstly, if I can buy a motorola charger and it would charge the GSP mouse? The mains charger is rated at 5.3V @ 0.5A.

Secondly, would I be able to hard wire the pda charger and gps charger behind my dash by tapping into a live source (such as the cigarette lighter)?

Thanks in advance.

this is rather a Mini USB connector than a "Motorola" connector. So - any Mini USB will do.

If you hardwire it into the car you need some kind of transformer from the car battery voltage (12 or 24 V) to the USB's 5V.

That is a mini-USB connector as lbendlin stated.

Many manufacturers are utilising this connector for connection purpose (not for USB use) particularly for power/charge connections.

Many do wire as STANDARD USB wiring so any standard Mini-USB cable can be used to power/charge the device. But many manufacturers do wire it differently to suit their purpose so you have to check whether your device wire it in a standard way or differently.

Holux BT devices using mini-USB connector also have serial interface via the mini-USB connector and it has a STANDARD USB wiring. So As lbendlin said you can use a mini-USB cable (bought from computer shop) to power/charge the device.

You mentioned Motorola charger and I think you mean the one that came with a PDA (?mpx200/220). These use standard mini-USB connector/cable for sync/charge.

So yes, you can use the Motorola charger if that is the one you meant.

Just read your post again and I notice that you "intended to buy a Motorola charger".

If you already had it, as I first assumed, you could use it.

If you do not yet have it, there is less expensive alternative now you know a standard mini USB cable will do.
