How to connect the EMTAC GPS signal to TomTom 5

I do recieve the Emtac BTGPS signal on my Ipaq 3970 via Com port 8:
1. How do I prevent my Ipaq from switching back to com 3, after a break in operation?
2. How do I connect the GPS signal to TomTom which does not recognize any signal over any port.

When you say you Receive signals from the GPS to the IPAQ, what are you using to display the data on? Also what does it actually look like as a data tream? And did it previously work on TomTom vs3 or 5, - its possible that the GPS unit is in SiRF data mode and needs to be switched back to NMEA - Mike
