|
|
Just wondering if I could pick a few brains and get some help.
I have recently purchased the Mio A201 and have been having a few problems.
1. Active Sync and Bluetooth is very flaky and unreliable... it only rarely seems to work. Most of the time i get the message "the connection can not be completed".
2. Not too sure if Word (doc) files are being converted to pocket word document (pws) format following a USB syn. When I click TOOLS>ADVANCED TOOLS>EDIT FILE CONVERSION SETTINGS and click Desktop to Device --- there is no Word Document (*.Doc) to Pocket Word setting. What made me suspicious is that it takes the A201 about 2 mins to open a 190 k file!!
Anyony else having these problems? |

Yes
I haven't got activesync to use bluetooth at all and the bluetooth connection between PDA andPC is strange to me at least. The connection to my mobile seems fine and solid enough without problems so I am going to persist with making it work with the PC when I get a bit more time to try things.
I am not sure about your word problem but I have been able to copy attached word files from emails onto the PDA and they don't take too long to open so I guess they are in the correct format for me. |

Thanks for your post.
The PPC to PC Bluetooth link seems (to me!) very unreliable. Most of the time it simply does not work. After setting up the 'partner' configuration it simply refuses to connect. At this stage I have got fed up and use a usb cable.
I seem to be able to open word doc .. just a bit slow. My brother has the Mio 168 and word docs are automatically converted into another format for viewing on the PPC (psw I think). This does not seem to be the case with the A201... (as far as I can see!).

I used to use a Mio 168 and never noticed it converted the doc files into a different format. I haven't noticed any difference on the A201 either. My guess would be that it's the OS not the device with the change from pocket PC to windows mobile 5. |

I have just received an e-mail fom Mio.............not much help, but at least they acknowledge there is a problem. What I find offputting is that there is no target date for a fix.
In the meantime they seem happy that people continue purchasing the A201 without being informing of the inherent problem. The attached PDF file contained some instructions in order to get the A201 to dial (I assume) via a mobile to the internet.
