|
|
Hi everyone.
Thank you for the advice on my last question, most appreciated! :D
I was wondering as i've upgraded my TTG 700's firmware, i now find that i can't use the what can only be seen to me as an extremely useful bit of software called POI capture.
So has anyone downgraded their TTG 700's firmware?
If so was it successful or did you manage to turn it into a brick!
Were there any other problems or pitfalls that i should know about?
I have managed to obtain firmware 5.201, but cant seem to find 5.202.
I won't use it yet until i know that it can be done safely.
Thanks.

I have upgraded and downgraded the software many times on my Go without any problems to test various software.
I don't see any problems doing it as the software on the 700 is the same
Get 5.202 here - http://www.automated.it/ttg-apps.html.
Maybe PGPS should make v5.202 available with the poi capture download? _________________ Ray

I don't think you can downgrade the bootloader though.... |

Don't they?
Well that's pretty dumb.... 8)
(Or maybe they'd like to charge for it, but haven't quite worked out how to claim it's "theirs" yet ! ) |

Or it could be that they don't host it because it isn't 'theirs'. _________________ Tim |

Great i've downloaded several firmwares courtesy of the "oldboy" link.
But...
I've downloaded & unzipped the 5.202 file, there's just six files in it?
connect2internet
connect2internet.so
data.chk
install.bif
system
ttsystem
But there's no setup program or anything, how do i use them.
Do i just copy them over to my TTG anywhere or a specific directory?
Sorry for asking all these questions, its just i can't afford to turn my pride & joy into a brick! |

Yes. Just Copy/Paste the 6 Files to replace those that already exist. Backup the originals first. That way you will be able to Restore just by Copy/Paste. _________________ Richard

Well, according to Tomtom you should include the SDK compatible application (v5.202 or 5.203) with any 3rd party SDK compatible software.
To prevent any confusion about which app to use.
So it's not that PGPS is not allowed to do it.... _________________ GO1005

Ah, OK. Is that information only given to Developers or is it freely available? Also, wouldn't it be better, i.e. more sensible, if TomTom released updates which were compatible with their own SDK? _________________ Tim |

It's just got an extra full stop at the end of the URL.
Try this one. It works for me.

And sorry if you were just trying to be sarcastic, but I really liked your other link |
