|
|
Hello there, I bought my 520 last week, and was told by a friend that I should try and get the speed cameras on the unit. I looked around, thanks to google, but every method that I found it didnt work. Normally because the SmartST software tells me its an invalid format.
Is there someone who can point me in the direction of a known method that works, and more importantly, can be followed by a small chimp. Pretty please etc. |

The instructions for installing the safety camera files are here.
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-navman.php
You need to remove the first line of the file where it says Latitude, Longitude etc. The .asc versions apparently don't have this now.
If you have any specific problem, post again. |

How do I fix that? |

Could it be that your SD/MMC card is full? _________________ Tim |

Hi guys.
If it was only bought last week he should have 96MB of free space.
I believe it ships with a 256MB card.

CeeJay is right. I am sure there should be room on your SD card if you haven't downloaded any other files. I suggest that to start with you only download the "all in one" file. Although there are a lot of different files available in the database, there is one which has all of the safety camera locations in it. You can find it in the "single file version" folder and I think is called "pocketgps_uk_sc.asc". This file is about 350 kb. This file does not need to be edited.
If it won't load, then it may be that there is a fault with your SD card. |

I've tried all the csv files I could find in the downloadable zip database. Whichever I try I get the
"No storage available on device" error message.
The smartST software says I've got 139.5MB of space free on the memory card. |

I got thinking, do I have to have a certain software version or firmware revision to properly add POIs? If so how can I find out what versions I have. |

As I mentioned in my last post

Using the .csv file means that you must edit out the first line which has "latitude, Longitude" etc on it. You need to use Notepad for that task. The .asc file does not need to be edited.
You should not need any enhancements to your software, particularly as it is recently purchased. |

Hi Icky.
If it was bought last week it should have all the right software on it already.
Mine was bought in December and worked straight out of the box. :D
To find out what version of Smart ST you're running open Smart ST on your PC then go to Help>About then move the slider to the bottom, this should give you all the version No.s.
Mine reads as follows:
SmartST Desktop: v.3.5.0.6
Desktop Lang. v.3.5.0.9
Registration v.3.5.0.1
Reg. dll. v.3.5.0.1
Reg Lang. v.3.5.0.9
POI Compiler. v.3.05.0000
POI Editor. v.1.0.0
Basemap. v3.5.0.2
iPaq device. dll. v.3.02.0002.0
Devicelink. v.3.02.0003.0
Mapcheck. dll. v.2.0.0.0
and all works OK.
Have you tried resetting your unit? If not, try a soft reset (button on top of Navman, reset with stylus).
If that fails then try a hard reset. (Battery switch on back of Navman. Turn it off then back on again. Need stylus for this too).
Sometimes this cures certain faults, not sure if it will cure this one, but it's worth a try.
Hope this helps.
CJ
PS. Hope I'm not trying to teach you to 'suck eggs', just trying to cover all the angles. :D |

I removed the headers at the top of the csv files, as well as using the all in one csv file and the asc file. None of them seem to work, they all give me the "No storage available on device" error message.
I've done both a soft and hard reset and its still throwing up the same issues. Any more ideas? |

Does the error message appear when you "save to device" from the POI Editor?
Or do you get an indication of the amount of space left on your SD card.
I am still thinking that there must be a SD card fault. |

I get the error as its trying to upload.
I load the csv file, and select save to device. It asks me about visual and auditory warnings, distance and bmp file. When I ok all of that it pauses for about 10 seconds then pops up an error.
Recently I checked for updates on the unit, and reflashed the software. I also loaded all the maps of the UK (previously I only had the south of england). All of this has changed the error I get, I now get an error saying;
"No storage available on device"
Which is pretty much saying the same thing, but thought it might be significant. |

Hi Icky.
Software's OK then.
When you open up Smart ST does your unit synchronize OK?
Also check that when you open up Smart ST, with the Navman plugged in, that the map of GB on the globe is highlighted in yellow.
I'll wrack the grey matter in the meantime.
