TT5 Traffic Auto Update on Route doesn't

My TT5 Traffic Auto Update on Route does not seem to work. When a route is planned and started, Traffic automatically downloads. You can see the green countdown clock counting down in 90 degree segments and it sometime turns yellow indicating that another update is available. However it never automatically downloads an update whilst following a route.

If I go into an incident and press update or the menu and press update it will download an update.

It is set to automatically download updates on route and I have tried restricting the updates to 5 minute intervals and not restricting updates, but this seems to make no difference.

I've had the same problem with Tomtom 5. My first iPAQ was a 2210 which I ran with Nav 3, when I tried using the traffic updates with a bluetooth connection to my phone, the GPRS connection failed after 3 successful updates.
I then changed my iPAQ to an HP2110 which worked perfectly with Nav 3, including bringing in the traffic updates automatically.
Very happy with Nav 3, I thought upgrading to Nav 5 was an obvious step forward...Nav 5 works fine on the 2110 but auto update of traffic data does not. As you stated I have no conectivity problem, the software just does not request the updates, when forced to do it manually it works fine.

After months of questions and answers on the tomtom website I was no further forward, but I managed to persuade them to let me move my software and traffic account back to my old HP2210. Everything works perfectly on the 2210, Nav 5 stays connected and auto downloads the traffic updates without any problems.

1 month ago tomtom said they were passing this issue to one of their specialists to investigate, but still no reply. I think they now accept that if I can setup a 2210 and get it working fine there should be no reason I should'nt be able to do it with a 2110.

My guess is Navigator 5 is not fully compatible with HP2110 iPAQ's
