Leaving aside motivational issues (only got my first satnav and joined the forum in January, so missed all the debate surrounding charging for the database).....
What formats are acceptable for submission to the database?
I ask this I'd like to be able to contribute (it'd be nice to qualify for a free month and I've noticed a few errors in the database in the last couple of weeks) but I have a garmin i3 which doesn't (as far as I know) work with POI capture and doesn't export the required ov2 or asc files.
I can save waypoints on the i3 easily enough and export them using easyGps (basically an xml file) which I can then translate into csv or just about any other text based format using simple scripts, but is this suitable for submission to the database (or do you only want Tom Tom specific formats)?
Update format
--------------------
If you are emailing updates in text format, as opposed to attaching TomTom overlays (*.OV2), then entries in the following format will be appreciated.
Longitude,Latitude,Name:m@nn,"Information #AA" whereLongitude and Latitude are in decimal degrees if possible (but any format will be accepted)
Name is your surname, m is a unique id (1,2,3,...) or existing camera ID, nn is the speed zone (30,40,...)
Information is explanatory text
#AA denotes camera type (#G Gatso, #GT Truvelo, #R Red light, #M Mobile, #S S.P.E.C.S, #T Temporary/Roadworks)
For example
-0.12345,51.23456,Davies:1@40,"A325 Farnborough Road. Northbound #G"
GATSO:1234,"Does not exist"
GATSO:3456,"Redlight camera. On A325 #R"

We'll accept submissions in a range of formats, whatever suits you be it Lat/Lon, .ov2, .csv, .asc, .xls or even links to Streetmap! _________________ Darren Griffin
