I am a complete beginer, but I do seem to have managed to down load the camera positions.
However I do have some questions.
I thought I would see the relevant camera symbol and speed at each position, all I have is a blue circle with a black cross. Is this correct?
It states in the instructions on the web site to use csv files but this did not work, on the instructions in the download file for navman it says to use asc, I did this and I got the positions. Why?
Can some please provide idiot proof instructions on this for me.

When you loaded the .asc files did you also specify a .bmp file to go with them?

The .asc files don't come in speedzone format (yet?) so you would only get one icon for al gatsos anyway, immaterial of their speed.

The .csv files are easy enough to use, but need editing for use with Navman products. Just open each file in turn, using Notepad, and add a ; to the beginning of the top line. Save the file and import it in the usual way.

I noticed a post indicating that a; should be added to .CSV files for use with the iCN550. I looked at a .CSV file that was generated by the SmartST Desktop 2005 POI editor and it did not have a; at the beginning. Could this be the reason that the custom POI file that I created with the SmartST POI editor has failed to appear in the list of POI files?

A file that you generate yourself using Navman POIEditor shouldn't need a ; at the beginning of the first line, as the first line should be data. It si only required when the first line is header information.

Incidentally, the .asc files now come in speed-zoned format tooo, so there will be no need to edit the .csv files any longer.

I did some poking around in the Navman unit and found that the four files (.BM .CHK .INI .MAP) associated with the new POI file that did not show up after I sent the new POI file to the device had been written to the Root directory rather than to the MYPOI directory. A pretty basic error that should have been caught in testing. I submitted a ticket about this problem to Navman about 15 days ago and have received no indication that they at all interested in correcting their software. A pity since the Navman unit itself appears to be an excallent product. The work-around of course is to move the four files from the Root directory to the POI directory.
