hi all,
I'm running tomtom navigator 5 on my XDA IIi with Arkon CM845 gps receiver, I updated the software via down load on the tomtom site..it has now developed a glitch where everytime i get a voice direction or noise warning the screen freezes for 5 seconds then says no gps device for another 5 seconds and then is ok. I contacted tomtom and ther say re-install via CD..trouble is the CD only has the user manual and the software was pre-installed on a SD card..can anyone offer me any further advice? |

Hi ravdaz, welcome on board.
I can't answer your question, but could I ask you not to double post. It is very difficult to follow the thread if there answers all over the place.
I have deleted your other posting. _________________ Richard

Have you got a load of POI enabled on the unit? if so de-select them and try it again, see if that improves the situation, use the warn when near POI option to still show the cameras - Mike |

I had the same problem and found, as already suggested, a complete re-install on the same SD card nearly helped - the problem was due to the Voices and POI files - there were too many. The final soultion was to use an SD card larger then the supplied 128MB, 256MB should be ample. Once everything was on the new card it works perfect.
On the backup front (I use a Treo 650) I always backup to the [new] TomTom card as I still get the error relating to lack of memory after installing more POI's. Once backed-up and restored all functionality returns. |

Hi rsvdaz
Oh dear! What a cock-up. Never mind, you have learnt a valuable lesson and will no doubt always make a backup in the future before carrying out alterations to your PDA or card. However, if you purchased a legitimate TT5 version then you must contact Tomtom however time consuming that may be. It will all come right in the end. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Since you performed the hard reset have you de-selected the receive all beams check box in Settings/ Connection tab - IRdA, if not there will be no data flow to the PDA via the serial port - Mike |
