|
|
Hi
I am just about to buy a TTG 500. In looking on the web for prices, some retailers are advertising it as Tom Tom Go 500 v2 and some just as Tom Tom Go 500. I have searched for an explaination but have not found one. Can anyone explain please.
Thanks |

An example of the above is this:

I would ask TomTom but it appears you have to register as an owner to be able to send them emails.
Thanks

Yes that's a strange link - however the unit looks like a TomTom700! Are TomTom about to dump the Go range in favour of a new device?

The (poor quality) picture is of a GO 700 (no SD slot) but the specification is of a GO 500.

TomTom have already released the ONE. With this year’s CeBIT just around the corner, who's to say they don't release a TWO, THREE, etc.?
By the way I have not heard anything from TomTom and the above is just my pure speculation.

The guy on ebay is talking about the 700 only and I am still not really sure why it is called version 2. He says that it has the latest maps, etc. but that does not really warrent calling it V2.
I have written to Halfords to ask what the TTG 500 V2 is (they dont accept correspondence by email ) and I will post the reply here if and when I get one.
Thanks |

I had a really prompt reply from Halfords. This is what they said:
"After investigation with our product team, I am now able to advise that the Tom Tom Go 500 V2 is an updated version of the original Go 500 and now includes a voucher in the box to receive traffic camera updates."
So now you know
Maybe I will write to Tom Tom. They also wont accept pre-sales enquires on the web as you have to be registered . |

It looks like more Halfords crap sales talk.
TomTom told me there's only ONE version of the 500, as is the 300, and 700
Unless Halfords know MORE THAN TomTom.??

it's true. You get 6 months free traffic subscription now. The devices are unchanged. _________________ GO1005

Thanks. Does that mean that Halfords do know what they are talking about? Anyway, I have already sent the letter to TT and will let you all know what they say.
If the hardware is the same as it always was, I think I should be more concerned that I will get the latest map version included. Is there a way to know the map version without opening the box? |
