Hi everyone,

I'm now looking at upgrading the memory card for the NavMan iCN520 I will be getting shortly, as I have read in many places that the 128MB card is just too small to allow many add-ons.

I would prefer to get the 512MB card, as money is an issue. However, if there is a great advantage to getting a 1GB card, I will go for it. Will 512MB suffice?

Thanks (yet again!) for any advice,

CobraDMX

Hi CobraDMX
I`ve had a 520 for a couple of weeks now, I had a spare 512 card for my camera, which I have put in the 520 and installed cameras and a few other POI files and there`s still plenty of room on the card and the system is working fine.
Shughie.

shughie,

Thank you for your reply. I have just placed an order for a 512MB Viking (actually Toshiba) SD card.

Thanks again!

Yeah the larger the card you get if its not the fastest card then you will notice a difference in performance. I dont really recommend people going over 512 for Satnav, 1GB will work but you can see a difference in searching etc.

With everything, I like to go no higher than 512 unless absolutely necessary.

Hello to all!

Bringing this thread back from the dark depths of last year!

I have just ordered the Navman iCN 520 Premium here in france at to my surprise, a cheaper price than the 510 premium and from the same store selling both!

I have been reading up in advance (newbie at satnav) and would like to know about SD cards. It has been suggested on this thread that 512Mb should be ample for satnav, will I be able to load all my european maps on that, and navigate from country to country? I am due to travel from france to Berlin taking in Belgium/Holland en route. Or is it that I just load the countries that I intend to travel to?

Any advice greatfully received.

Regards,

Bob (mister duck)

I did use a 512mb SD card for sometime but now have a Sandisk Ultra II 1Gb card.

I can now put all my maps, TT5/Memorymaps, docs photos etc on 1 card & in fact it runs faster than the old 512 card not only when it comes to loading the data on my card when in the card reader but also everything runs faster on the PDA when the data is from the card, maps etc.

Not sure why a 512mb card is recommended as you can never have enough memory.
