Street Pilot i3
=========
Q: How do I reset the i3?
(Warning: this may remove all personal data such as Favourites etc)
A: With the unit switched off, hold down the Left/Back button and the scroll wheel then press the power button. This will show a confirmation screen and you can reset the unit from here.

Q. Why doesn't my brand new GPS get a satellite lock? or
Q. Why doesn't my GPS get a satellite lock after I upgraded the firmware/cleared all user data.
A. If you are outside and you have a good view of the sky then the unit may have no satellite ephemeris / almanac data or the data was wiped after a reset or firmware update.
Take the StreetPilot to a place with a good view of the sky and not obstructed by too many buildings/trees etc. Large outdoor carparks, hilltops or your back garden are good places to try. Don't move the StreetPilot while it downloads the data. This can take anything from 5 to 15 minutes!

POI's
====
Q: How can I make my own POI files?
A: To make your own POI file you need at least 3 things: longitude, latitude and a name.
If you can find it on a map then things are quite easy! Go to http://www.streetmap.co.uk and find it on a map. Zoom in as much as possible and click the actual location (entrance to car park probably the best bet) and it will show an arrow on the map. Now, near the bottom of the page there is a link to 'click here to convert/measure coordinates' - click the link and in the list it will show you the latitude and longitude.
UPDATE: you can also use this site: http://ukpostcodes.boldlygoingnowhere.org/ and fill out a form with names and postcodes to be emailed the lat/long of all the points you enter (thanks for the link Almahadeus). User Ash10 has also created a program that automates conversion of postcodes to lat/long and will be sharing this in the future.
You can also extract 'Favourites' from your Garmin unit using software from http://www.easygps.com.
Create a new file in Excel (or similar) and make 4 columns: longitude, latitude, name, details.
Insert the long/lat in the relevent columns, put the name in the name column (eg 'Boots, Bradford') and any other details in the 4th column (eg 'Darley Street, 01274 888555').
Save the file as a comma separated value (.csv) file - e.g boots.csv.
Then create a 22x22 pixel icon and save it as an 8-bit .bmp file - name it exactly the same as the associated csv file but with .bmp at the end instead.
Upload to the unit using Garmin's POI Loader (http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=927)

Q: Can I save my curent location on the i3?
A: Yes, simply hold down the scroll-wheel for a few seconds and it will save it in the 'My Favourites' list. You can also rename it. Unfortunately without any extra software (Mapsource [can someone confirm?]) you can't extract this data for putting into a custom POI file.

Street Pilot i3
=========
Q: My i3 seems to miss out voice commands or have words missing from it's repertoire! Help!
A: When the i3 is first set up it installs all the voice files for the specific language that you select. Things go wrong if this process is interrupted (usually by our own impatience!) and not all the voice files are loaded. The easiest way to fix this is to go to the settings and change the voice language to something different (e.g. 'American English') and then change it back to 'British English' - this will reload the British voice files but it takes a while so be patient this time!!

Q: Why can't I see the speed camera icons when I am in 'navigation' mode? They show up in 'map' mode...
A: The i3 is set up in such a way that POI icons will only show up when you are above the speed limit. Therefore, you will not see a speed camera icon unless you are speeding. At present there is no way to change this and Garmin have stated that they believe that if all POI icons were shown all the time it would clog up the screen too much.
