I recently purchased a globalsat BR-355 and have been trying for ages to get it to communicate with my XDA2s but with no success.
I have installed the software from the cd that occompanied the receiver but for some reason there is no reading of any gps activity.
One of the errors that comes up is that com1 does not exist. I have reset the pda using the software on the cd that I assumed created a com1. I have tom tom 3 which also does not recognise that the gps is there.
Any ideas?

Go to settings/ connections tab IrDA and turn off the receive all beams within this page, then you should see some activity - Mike

Cheers for that Mike.
I have however encountered a new problem. The gps software works fine at recognising the receiver now by turning the beams off but my version of tom tom 3 won't recognise the gps.
The error I keep getting is that 'com1 does not exist' when i try and select it through tom tom gps.
I have tried to set com1 using the software that came with the gps which then resets the pda, but no joy.
Having spoken to a college he seems to think that I may need some sort of patch to correct this. Is this the case? If so do you know where i may be able to get it?
Cheers again.

One question before I start to mess with my IIs to try to replicate the fault, do you have installed any software that uses an external keyboard, if so go into this and re-select the serial/ IrDA option as it could be set to external keyboard - just a thought as this has caught me out a few times - Mike

Just been having a play around with the IIs, and it works fine with the TomTom GPS driver vs2,06 - try downloading it from here http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=13 Unzip it and copy the CAB file to the XDA then use file explorer to install the application - By the way I have no patches etc installed Mike

I've tried with the gps driver but the same fault comes up.
I have no other software that uses anything external.
I will try and reload tom tom from scratch along with the driver and go from there.
Cheers
Rob
