When planning the route home from work yesterday I came across one that's never happened before. I planned fastest route, but via a small village to avoid roadworks. I checked the route and it didn't go through the village, I browsed the map, found the village and the flag was there to indicate a way point, but the route didn't pass it! _________________ Graham

Not a new bug, it's been around as long as I've had TomToms...
If you plan a route "via" a town centre, it goes vaguely close, but will skirt round the town using a bypass if it can. |

Its probably common knowledge by now but I found making the town centre a favourite and going via that did the trick. _________________ Graham

The only requirement is that it has to be placed on a point it can navigate to. Was it located off-road? or too close to the main route? _________________ Richard

I have found the same as Andy - I frequently use Travel Via instead of Avoid, simply because Avoid sometimes takes some effort to get it to set the route I want. So travelling from Exeter to Bath I want the scenic route and instruct Travel Via Yeovil, but it never takes me into that town, just on the A303 bypass, which actually is exactly what I want.
A year or so ago, I did a delivery in Bedford and decided for old time's sake to come back via the village where I lived 45 years ago. The local roads had long since disappeared into the mists of Alzheimers, so I never realised until way too late that I hadn't gone much closer than a mile! _________________ Dennis
