Mio A201 & Battery life????

Hi Guys, I am thinking of going for the newMio A201 & tomtom 5 but I understand that if the battery drains then you have to re-install all the software, or so Globalpositioningsystems tell me?
Now from what I have read, installing tomtom on this unit is difficult so now i'm unsure what to do.
Having to re-install the software evrytime the battery drains is a bit of a pain, no?
any ways arount it?
