|
hi i just bought a navman pin 570 today got up and running all works well including the speed camera files posted on here works like charm thx guys for a great site.
Does anyone know if there is a limit on the size of sd cards you can use with this unit (or PDAs in general)
I see 1 gig and 2 gig sd cards are available tried looking thru the manual but no clue given there just wanna check before i spend £35 on a bigger card for my mp3 files. also will i be able to transfer the navman software to the bigger card ? so everthing i need is on one card save swappin round ect...
Thx,

Hi holls, I changed the card in my PiN570 to a 512mb card no problem. I don't know the maximum size though, but I would guess a 1 mb should work. There are a range of SD cards out there now - some faster than others, my 512 is a medium speed (bytestor 66x) and works fine no hang ups or crashes so far in the month I have had the unit working with it.
With the new card I used my PC card reader (not the PiN itself) and just copied the maps from the original card to the new one, including the file structure etc. so that they were exactly the same - this seemed to work.
After that I saved some MP3s and all of the active POI's onto the new SD card, so that they are all together and gives the most free memory on the device.
The map registration is I would guess held on the PDA ROM since this seemed to work.
so you can try this way I guess. The Navman software for the PC also shows up a window for SD card so you may be able to manage the file locations from that software, but I found the PC and PDA communication flakey, and I only use the PC software to download POI's to the unit.
hope that this helps,

I can confirm that the Pin570 will infact take a 1Gb SD memory card as I have one installed. Great for updating and carrying large amounts of files. |
