Greetings,
Faced with the stubborn reluctance of the 510 to programme a route the way I would prefer to go, I have been turning down the volume until it finally gets the message. So I thought I would be clever and use the trip facility and insert an intermediate waypoint to force the 510 to go my way. That worked fine until I passed the waypoint when it spent the next 50 miles trying every possible route to get me back to the waypoint instead on on to my destination. Where am I going wrong? The manual tells me how to construct the trip list but not how to use it in practice.
best wishes,

You must actually arrive at the way point for it to continue on to your final destination.
If the way point was adjacent to the road the unit thinks that you haven't visited that point. It will keep on trying to get you to go back to the way point.
Its best to be very precise with them. |

Thanks Nortonbeak,
I suspected that might be the case - not very satisfactory because you don't always have control over which bit of the road you use. Is there any other way of defining a prefered route; I find whatever tunes I play on "Preferences" the software has a quirky sense of humour sometimes and comes up with some extraordinary routes? |

Two possibilities.
One. Enlarge the area where you want to set your waypoint to maximum, so there is no doubt that it is set in the middle of a section of tarmac.
Two. Wait until you have driven an irrevocable distance along your chosen route, then set your destination. If you have driven far enough, then the Navman(lady) can't send you on their quirk. |
