car to hiking

taking the plunge and getting a early xmas present from then wife I am now the proud owner of the navman icn520, great on roads going from A to B but can I turn it into a useful guide while hiking away from the roads your help and advise would be most helpful

unfortunately no - it's a street navigation device only. You need to use something else for offroads

while its not necessarily hiking, the maps with the tt 300 have given me some helpful directions with rock creek park in dc when I have been walking through the park. I'm pretty sure this has to do with the fact that it intertwines with Rock Creek Parkway. does anyone know if this gps was designed for more than just streets?
