|

Hello,
Just got the ICN520. Seems okay so far, but I'm unsure about how to disconnect from the PC oter than simply taking the cable out. Is there a recommended procedure?
I tried putting the European base maps into the 520 over USB and took out the cable once the installation had finished only to find an ASSERT FAILURE coming from the 520 once it had restarted...
It was a real ball ache trying to reinstall the software as my PC stopped detecting the 520.. and the SMart Desktop software didn't find the 520... but I kept persisting and finally solved the problem.... eventually.
I'm thinking the problem was discnnecting the 520 incorrectly (even though I had closed the desktop software before disconnecting) so I'm keen not to have this problem again :-) |

On the Windows task bar (bottom RH, unless you have moved the tool bar), there will be a small icon, grey box with a green arrow above it pointing to the left (Safely Remove Hardware), double click this and then select which USB based hardware you want to stop, if you can't see this on the desk top then try clicking the blue circle with LH arrow in it, as this un-hides the non shown icons, this way will ensure and data transfers are complete avoiding the errors you see from pulling the cable when a transfer is still in progress - Mike |

Thanks Mike,
For some reason I don't get the USB icon like I expected.
I end up having to go into Microsofts Sync prog and then disabling the USB transfer.... it causes the Navman to reboot so I guess its not connected and then I disconnect...
Not very satisfactory I admit.. ;-)
Cheers

You are not alone. I have never had the expected "Safely remove hardware" icon whilst having my iCN510 attached to my computer. I have used it many times over the past year. I know it's not satisfactory, but I just have to unplug the device when I have finished what I am doing.. _________________ Gee-Pee
