won't upgrade?

hi all new to the forum and new to gps.....but luving it:P.
im a courier and i rely on my GPS, just 1 thing i cant seem to change the OS from 2003 to v5.0.
Please can u advise?
medion md95025 aka mdpna100, cradel with power, mobile 5.0 with active sync 4.1.
i get to the point where it says its gonna ease everything then the sync goes off and it then says there was an errror, this i think due to the sync going off , is this supposed to happen or am i doing something wrong:?
