|
|
Hi there!
Just bought a Navman iCN520. Works very well with easy menus and directions. Only downside that first thing in the morning it takes 5-15mins to pick up the sats.
Anyway,
I followed the instructions for the Speedcam database from pocketgpsworld and was eager to try it out this morning. Passed three fixed cameras that have been there for years and no warning of them either visually or by sound. Any ideas?
Is there anyway to display my travelling speed at all times with my 520?
I'm sure I had it set up to do this when I bought it but since then have lost this funtion.
Thanks |

Travelling speed should be shown in bottom right hand corner. You need to tap there and it cycles through a number of different displays.
Distance to turn>Heading>Time>Speed>Time to go>ETA>Distance to go>back to distance to turn. |

When you sent the data from PC to iCN, did you ensure you have ticks in the three boxes (Active, Visual alert and Audio alert)? I always move the slider for Visibility Level to the far right, too. _________________ Tim

In 2D mode, if I zoom out, losing road data, the speed camera icons remain in view. I have them set to "high visibility".
So, you should be able to find other cameras elsewhere, even if your local ones aren't included in the database. |

Yes I have.
Still nothing.
I'm based in Aberdeen and we have a load of cameras especially between here and Dundee. Nothing shown on satnav. |

1. 5-15 mins is a very long time. Two things - you havn't got an athermic windscreen have you? Second, I've found that if mine does take a long while, by changing the screen display and back it kick starts it. No logical reason why it should but there you go
2. Have you checked the My POIs screen and checked that the POIs are turned on (ticked)? Settings > My Data > My POI. Tick in box. |

I actually sat it outside on my garden table so it had no windscreen to interfere with it.
OK, zoomed out of the 2d map and I can see the cameras but there is hardly any and none of the local cameras.
Maybe shows 3 or 4 within the whole Aberdeenshire area. (massive area).
I must need to download other coordinates. |

All I see in the Aberdeen area is a whole string of them on the A96. You'd better start marking them and sending them in for inclusion. :D _________________ Tim |

OK, you see them, I can't.
I'm going to start from scratch again later.
When I added the camera sites from the database I added the red lights, mobile and fixed sites all at one time. Maybe I should add each catagory one at a time.
Thanks. |

Each of the redlights, mobile, gatso's, etc are a separate POI. You must put them in separately or you'll have problems. |
