navman 510 baterie change

could you please tell me how to change a battery on my navman 510 and will it loose memory when disconecting the old battery thanks for any info terry

This is easy to change, simply release the four screws from the rear of the device, you will notice there are five Philips head screws, the one that is through the hinge of the flip up GPS aerial should be left in position.

With the four rear corner screws removed prise the rear cover from the device using your thumb nail, it actually comes apart very easily. The rear cover contains the GPS aerial and is connected to the main board so don't separate the two pieces too far, although it is easy to gain access to the battery. Simply detach the battery connector and replace the cell with the new one.

Doing this will have the same effect as moving the battery switch on the rear of the device to the off position, it will fully reset the device, but if the battery is shot it is a small loss - Mike
