Which GPS for me?

Can anyone help me decide whats the best choice for me? I'm completely new to this and would appreciate any helpful suggestions.

I'm looking for a GPS to use mainly in the car, but would be nice to use when walking. Do most of my driving in the UK, but I also take regular trips to the US and it would be nice if I had the option to bring it with me and load US maps into it.

I am not really interested in a PDA. I have a mobile phone with Bluetooth, also have a PSP. Would prefer to spend less than £300. Is that enough info to go on?

Why are you not interested in a PDA ?.

I use a Mio 168 wth TT5 & Memory maps for off road biking & I find this unit very compact for biking/walking & just brilliant for the car. Although I do not often use pocket PC software that often it's handy for surfing the net if you stay away now & then in a hotel with WiFi etc & also you can get your email when away but it is mainly used for sat nav/GPS use & does a great job so for the money you want to spend a PDA with built in GPS is a good option.

Hi my long lost Bro :D ,

When I got my Mio 168 from Novatec a few months ago it came with Navigator 5 & it came with all the maps on 2 DVD's but you had to pay extra to use any map other than UK/Ireland.

Needless to say I soon changed back to Tom Tom after using Navigator 5.

the reason I said I'm not interested in a PDA, is I use my PSP for wireless internet access, and use a web-based email account. Don't really bother with outlook anymore. I've just bought the PSP, and I've just spent a chunk of money on it, so didn't really want the added expense of a PDA when it would really be redunant, except for the GPS. I'll still consider it, if it's truly the best option, tho.

I hadn't thought too much about buying a system as I didn't think I wanted to spend the money at this time... well guess what? my choice has been made, Santa was good to me this year and brought me the Tom Tom Go 300. My hubby chose it, it was a complete surprise. Just been playing with it at home, haven't taken it for a drive yet. So far I'm impressed, I think it will do just about everything I think I want it to do. the only disappointment is TomTom's website is down. I imagine lots of other ppl are having the same problem trying to play with their new toys and not being able to get any info on line. the product support CD that's included isn't too helpful.

Hope you all had a nice Xmoo and didn't get any lumps of coal.
