Evening all. :D

I have found this site very useful when deciding what kit to buy and I hope someone here can help me make it work properly!!

I have an iPaQ 3970 and have installed TT5 on it as per the instructions. I also have a TT GPS MkII Receiver. This is charged and the green light is flashing as it should be.

The PDA BT is switched on and has detected the receiver. It is showing in the device menu. It is not bonded but is connected on Serial Port.

When I open TT5, I get a message at the bottom of the screen saying 'No GPS device!' and its driving me mad. The receiver is clearly working and the PDA has picked it up OK but TT won't recognise it!

Is there something in the seetings of the BT I need to change or a setting within the TT program? HELP!!

Thanks all. I await your expertise.

p.s. I need laymans terms I'm afraid, not fully up to speed with the lingo yet!

Doug, welcome to the forum, how have you set-up the GPS in tomtom? - once you have the serial port connected go into TomTom and select preferences, change page to the GPS icon, and select set-up try setting "other NMEA Cabled Device" then on the next screen select the relevent baud speed (4800 and 9600 are a good starter - newer devices use 38400) finaly on the last screen select the outgoing bluetooth port. Then give the device a clean line of sight to the sky and wait, it could take up to 15 min to achieve the first lock on to the sats, monitor the GPS status in preferences (where you just set it up) - Mike

And its as easy as that! Set the speed to 38400 and it picked up straight away!

Thanks Mike, I owe you a virtual pint.

Bungle, the GPS I refered to is within the TomTom application, when presented with the navigator screen Tap the screen and select Change Preferences, then tap the arrow right icon (next page) three times (assuming you have a normal menu) this will take you to the "Show GPS status" it is in here you can select what is mentioned in the previous posts, Welcome to the forum by the way, I hope this helps - Mike
