Problems with Holux External aerials

Hi,

Just want to check if the problems I've had with external aerials are normal.

I currently have a both a GS 230 and 231 (in different cars). I've got external aerials for both vehicles because I keep the gps units in the boot out of site in 18 months I've had the followng problems.

1. The first aerial (bought with the 230) developed a fault and would stop the gps 230 comunicating when plugged in - Holux swapped this out for me

2. The second aerial (bought with the 231) never worked and had to be RMA'd

3. Both replacement aerials (one of which is under 4 months old) are now starting to exhibit faulty reception - the signal gradually deteriorates until lock is lost - at this point the fastest way to regain lock is to physically move the receiver head - I strongly suspect that there's some sort of dry joint/ short circuit involved.

My question is is this normal for external attennae ? My wife especially is fed up with the unreliabilityof the system (she loves GPS when it works but is just not confident in it any more).

This is not something that we see on a regular basis.
Please give tech support a call and discuss the problems you are having.
