Connecting Bluetooth GPS to T-Mobile Mda Vario

I have just bought a bluetooth gps reciever and i am having difficulty in getting it to work. I would be really gratefull if anyone could answer the following questions and/or give any advice.

1. how would i test the connection between the gps reciever and the mda?
2. which com port do i select?
3 what would be the best software to buy?
