Sorry if this has been covered before but...
The displayed night mode on the ICN520 to me doesnt really look very different to the day mode, you notice a slight shading change but thats it. Is there a theme or whatever available that allows you to make more dramatic change to the display.
I like how the TOM TOM looks when its in night mode, it would be cool if the 520 did something similar |

If it's like the 510, not really. Dimming the screen to minimum helps but it's still too bright. |

If you select Main Menu, Preferences, Maps, Display then there are two radio buttons for Map Colours day or night. Also you can change the colour scheme from a list of choices. |

I've had a play with the themes in night and day modes, but I'm a lil disappointed theres not something more dedicated to night mode. Changing the shading for night mode seems a lil lazy on Navmans part. Then again I could just be a fussy .
Now what would be cool is having the horizon change as night approaches. The software could look at the GPS system time and at a certain preset period the skyline flicks from the blue sky / clouds to stars. |

The night mode is a joke and it needs drastically changing and a shortcut on the screen so it can be accessed with little effort. |

I fully agree, not only is it buried in a sub-menu but as far as I could tell it was identical to the Day mode! _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have written to Navman regarding the nightmode aspect of this unit which I have only recently purchased.
I will probably use the Navman more during the dark hours expecially in the winter months and as far as I am concerned the night colour schemes are totally unsuitable and bordering on d@m right dangerous unless you remove the navman from your field of vision which totally defeats the object.
If they don't respond in 7 days i will return the unit

Given their hopeless record on emails, I'd get the car warmed up now. |

The main function of the night mode is that the buttons are illuminated constantly.

Not much of a night mode if only the keys come on....... :P
I emailed Navman also with my thoughts and have yet to get a reply. I wonder if it would be worth trying to find the Manager of NZs contact details and letting them know how badly Navman are at getting back to their customers. |

Even on the lowest setting, mine pumps out enough light from the screen to see the buttons anyway..... |

Here's the response I received from Navman on this issue.
Would have been nice if they had said they are developing a suitable scheme or something but that's clearly not the case
