I have just sent my cr100 back after using it for a week. It ended up completely falling apart on me. Firstly, the suction pad on/off style switch was freely moving around full circle without catching and therefore not attaching onto my windscreen and secondly, the join where the flexible are meets suction pad failed and the arm with cradle & SPVm2000 fell into my lap!
Also, the GPS signal dropped out when i had the speakers plugged in and i got a huge amount of interference whenever a phonecall came in.
Otherwise, the unit would have been fine. I would love to have GPS in my car and was wondering if anyone had any alternative suggestions for around the same price. |

probably worth giving it another try, sounds like a faulty rather than bad design.
Other Arkon seem to make mount with similar features. |

GpsDell,
The sound problem is a bu*ger and I had to doctor mine to disconnect the speakers. There's a conversation about it in the review discussion.
There were one or two other issues which took a while to nail and are specific to the M2000 but as for durability, I've been throwing my CR100 in suitcases, transfering to hire cars, and generally putting through a bit of a bashing compared to a once only install and I have to say its pretty bombproof so might be worth persevering.
Do a search for messages with Holux and me in them to find out all the problems. Most are not Holux related but are to do with the extra software Orange put on. Haven't time to do a full list of the posts but this is a good start http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=28701
If you do decide to go another route then I can recommend you stick with Holux for perhaps a bluetooth or similar as good tech support is hard to find these days and Holux are excellent in this area. Also, as the M2000 is now discontinued and you might be looking at an M5000 in a few months with a tasty upgrade then in the long term the Bluetooth price penalty might pay off because the CR 100 isn't compatible with the M5000 (MDA PRO). Connector for hard wiring (as per com1 on m2000) is a mini USB on the side so unlikely to become useable without a miracle from Holux. Either way I'd entertain them again purely on the basis that they actually give a hoot about their customers. _________________ Tom Tom GO 720
