More about strange routes

In the past many of us have commented and illustated some odd routes chosen by TT5. The one I find most odd is the following - can anyone explain it?

I was recently at a point A and asked TT to navigate me to a point B; A route I know well. TT started correctly but avoided the most direct and obvious route in favour of a longer , further , more difficult route including vary narrow B roads. I realised what was happening and used my own local knowledge to avoid problems but that evening I plotted that same route in the comfort of my sitting room using the Advanced Planning capability planning a route from A to B in the usual way. This route was perfectly correct.
I have repeated this test three times now with the same result. Planning it in advance the route is perfect but when driving it , TT takes a differenet route. It is af if the route caculation changed as the route was under way.

I am using QUICKEST, and to avoid the obvious suggestion ; I have never installed TT Traffic nor tried to invoke it in anyway - I can see how that might change things 'on the fly'.
