Have had a look at several units and they all warn of heat reflecting / athermic windscreens blocking or degrading signals and that an additional arial might be needed.

I'm driving a Citroen C4

Anyone out there with a Citroen C4 and satnav? What unit are you running and have you had to put the additional arial in?

Thanks

Hello,

I own a Citroen C5 Estate, and with an old garmin "70s something" it would not pick anything up when placed on the dash directly in front of the windscreen, howevever it would only pick a signal up from the side windows or the area in front of the rear view mirror which has dots all over it.

I initially purchased a Holux 230 which had the same receiving signal characteristics (but it would work if placed on the drivers door ledge and satisfied my requirements), however that GPS failed.

I received a Globalsat 318 in its place. This device works between the gearstick and ciggy lighter (I get 2-3 bars on the dash, but it picks sat signals up through athermic windscreen) giving virtually 5 bar signal strength 90% of the time and has been superb.

I have absolutely no need for an external arial

I am running TOMTOM MOBILE 5, nokia 6600 PHONE WITH Bluetooth Globalsat 318 GPS.

I would therefore assume the Globalsat 338 should be even better in terms of signal sensitivity.
