Apple Mac - TomTom 5.201 update woes

Specs:
Tiger 10.4.3
Missing Sync 5.02
Tungsten T5

I am have been unable to installthe update (5.201). I download it and run the setup program but all I get is the program telling me to hotsync my handheld. The TomTom conduit gets installed into Missing Sync but it doesn't do anything. Is there a way to manually install the required files? If so, how would I do it?

I scoured the net and found the 5.120 update for TT5. I managed to install this using the Mac installer but now I am unable to connect to my GPS receiver - it keeps saying "no GPS device!" I have deleted the bluetooth pairing from the Tungsten and re-paried and soft reset, then fiddled with the GPS settings to no avail. Any suggestions? How would I revert back to the original TT5 (that at least did work (although not with the John Cleese voice I wanted - whereas 5.120 does!)).
