mikeda,

Although I have the PiN 570's older brother (PiN 300), they are basically the same configuration apart from a few tweaks to the SmartST 3.5 software/maps over my v3 version.

I have found the unit both invaluable as a PDA as well as the Navigation System. I have used it both extensively in Europe (not UK) and Australia and have found it a dream to use with very few problems. What problems I found, were actually my interpretation problems when I revisited the same "problem" using the demo mode at a later date. As with all navigation systems, one has to become comfortable with the idiosyncracies of how the systems works and how the commands are delivered.

Being able to select from the 'contacts' (address book) of the PDA system, means that I am able to select and navigate to quite easily. Although I have tried only once, you can set multiple points (addresses) during the route so that one could layout a full days travel prior to departure.

My only complaint, that I found in the early days was that I sometimes left other programs running on the PiN and of course memory was used up, with some frozen screens becoming apparent and hence many resettings of the unit. Now I have got into a habit of ensuring that all programs are closed before I get set to navigate. (This is also evident if one saves files to the PiN as the available memory for the SmartST program to use can be compromised. Best save any files to an SD card.

I personally haven't had too much of a problem with missing roads etc on the maps, other than finding that odd piece of road that has been realigned (moved) since the maps were produced.

All in all, I am totally pleased with the Navman PiN and actually, having used, for very short period, a Navman iCN 510 I found the PiN more user friendly.

Hope this above is of some interest.

Best Regards,
Denis

Hello Mikeda,
I have a pin 570. I bought it about four months ago.
It can be used out of the box (literally :D ) it was charged and ready to go. Like most things of this type there is some learning to do but it is quite simple.
The navigation side is fine it will show you where you are and will guide you to your detination; with different screen options; like map view and turn view. I sometimes find the post code search fails and there are anomolies with the maps but I think this is true of all these types of things. You may find that you need to adjust the road preferences to suit yourself even then trust it and see where it takes you I have been shown a quicker route for a regular journey I take.
The PC side is not particularly fast but it can be a diary, alarm clock, mp3 player (mono), games machine, video player (recomend "pocket dv studio" to convert files £20 - download), excel, word and more.
I would recomend buyinging a 1Gb SD card for files(£36 ebuyer); and make sure you store them on it not to rom as I first did.
I'm trying to find a decent case for it and also trying to find out if I can WIFI it.
I would recomend it.
I hope this helps.

Clem
