|
|
I'm admitting defeat! I didn;t realise I should backup files from the start (i.e. not adding any POI files or favourites etc), and now I'm completely hopeless!
My TT wouldn;'t even start.
Can anyone let me know where I could acquire the original files apart from going to Tom Tom themselves?
Perhaps the majority of the files aren't changed and someone could send me the crucial files? |

have you tried a hard reset using a paperclip?
there is a small hole to the front of the unit in the docking shoe. push the end of a paperclip in there and try switching it on again.
Hope this helps. _________________ Thanks,

Thanks for the reply.
yes i have tried resetting it. At first it started but freeze on the tom tom logo screen repeatedly.
after trying to update it with v5.201 it got worse and wouldn;t even start up.
don;t know what's the problem... |

I'm not sure what happened to my files.
My guess is that my TTG first started NOT working becoz there's not enough memory/space on my SD card (128MB).
I have added POI files (thru PC) and activated them on Tom Tom. I have also added "favourites" on Tom Tom.
Which files would have changed after I did the above?
How would I know if the files are corrupted or missing? I didn;t make any backup from the VERY START, but only when it showed first sign of problem. |

The favourites and Warnings are stored in the .cfg file in the map folder.
Have you tried taking the POI's off the SD card to leave some memory free?
To work well the GO needs about 2MB free. _________________ Richard

If you've added POI files I would remove them and free some space up.
Assuming you had the UK on there (ca. 109Mb) you wouldn't have had much space anyway. After you get it working I would buy a bigger SD card. _________________ Thanks,

Thanks for the info.
I've already deleted the POI files but still can't start up my Tom Tom.
I even tried taking my 256MB SD card from my camera and copy all files onto it, but that didn;t do the trick either.
I think some files may have corrupted. |
