|
|
Hi all,
I wanted to know if there is a limit on how many POI's that can be installed and used in TomTom Navigator 5.10 for the Pocket PC, I have just installed some new POI's and most of them show up apart from a few which for some reason wont show. I have checked to see if they are installed on the SD Card ok and they are.
Any Help Would Be Great,
Many Thanks

It's 40 that are user added, and TT will only see that number, even if they are not enabled.
It does not include the TT built-in categories. _________________ Richard

I wasn't aware that the Belgium map would be any different.
Perhaps the limit on that map is 34 seems strange though. _________________ Richard

Hi chrisb1357,
The maximum number of POIs that you can currently load into each map in TomTom Navigator 5 is 39 user custom ones, plus all of the default TomTom ones.
All of the default POIs are effectively classed as one (as they are in the POI.DAT file). This is why you see the figure of 40 quoted a lot (39 + 1 = 40).

OK i have checked my SD Cards again and he what i have below:
256MB SD Card - UK Maps - 39 User POI's + Default POI = 40
(Thats Fine)
128MB SD Card - Belguim Maps - 34 User POI's + Default POI = 35
(If i install more POI's under this map they do not show up in the list of POI's and only the current 34 and the default poi's show up. I now went into the Add POI Category under the manage POI menu in tomtom just to test if i can add a category via tomtom, When i try this i get 'No room for more categories' with a red backgound and a continue button at the bottom. I click this and it takes me back to the Manage POI menu,
Does anyone know why this is and is the limit on the tomtom belguim maps the same as the UK one
Many Thanks

Hi, Could anyone please assist me?
I am currently running Tom Tom 5 on my HP iPAQ 5550. I have downloaded points of interest from this site, have saved them to my P.C. I have then unzipped the files and have then transferred them to the Great Britain Plus file on my storage card. I have then opened Tom Tom and gone to the manage P.O.I.s and then to enable but there is no trace of the updates. I have then gone add POI and again the update is not there. I have then gone to add POI category, have typed the title of the upgrade in to be told that it already exists.
I have then downloaded the POI editor from the link on your site and have tried to run it using this system but with the same results.
If I browse the file on my P.C. using the activsync the relevant files are in place.
I have evem deleted one category to no avail.
Can anyone shed any light on where I am going wrong or offer some advice please.
Kind Regards,
Wes |

Welcome Wes, Have you loaded the correct files there are two per camera a .ov2 and .bmp - they go into the Great_Britain_ map folder on your SD card, you must ensure the files are extracted from the unzipped folders before copying them to the SD card. Then select prefferences, manage POI and enable/ disable - Cheers - Mike |

Mike - wouldn't Warn When Near be better than Enable/Disable as Enabling slows down Map Re-drawing on some PDA's? _________________ Richard
