Hi

I am new to TomTom, I have downloaded POIEdit and got it working nicely but how do I activate the OS grid references? They are in my Great-Britain-Map folder but not in TT’s POI list.

Thanks in advance

Can we have a bit more information please.

Which TomTom have you got?

What are you trying to do?

If you are talking about the built-in POI's, you can't edit them.

Sorry about that.

I have TT Navigator 5.000 – Great-Britain-Map version 562 running on an iPAQ 2755

I have installed POI Edit and downloaded several POIs including the OS Grid References. They all appear in my Great-Britain-Map folder but some do not appear in TT POI enable/disable list.

I understand from other postings that there is an upper limit (30?) of POIs in TT Navigator 5 so I can get rid of some (e.g. by removing individual petrol companies and replacing with one file of all the petrol stations) but my real problem is how do I use the OS Grid References (NGR). I am an archaeologist and record a site by name and NGR, having locations referenced by Lat/Long is OK (I use another program, BeeLine GPS, to get my site location data) but a bit of a pain in conversion when I get back home. Being able to use OS NGR in TT would be fantastic if I can.

So the question is, how can I use the OS references once I manage to get TT to read the POI file.

I'll move you to the Navigator Forum as you might get a better response there.

I am not sure what you are asking.

Importantly - forget OS Grid - Sat Nav software will always use WGS84 as the native format so you need to convert your POIs to that format. If you have done so, and POI Edit has created a POI file in your p folder - all you need to do is enable it in your software. There is loads of software to convert OSGB to WGS84 - but you might find useful this thread useful for viewing OS grid location in TomTom on the fly.
