speed cameras - confusion

I am new to GPS and new to speed camera database. I am using an IPAQ 3970 with tom tom 5 and tom tom sirf 3 BT GPS. On a recent trip from Lincoln to the lake district and back I got lots of spped camera alerts but none of them were actually there ?? I must have had 10-12 alerts and only one of them was a real camera. some of them corresponded to laybys (does this mean they were mobile camera alerts ??) but most corresponded to a hedge or a wall !!!!!. I dont understand - the system is great in theory but in practice if all it does is "cry wolf" then i am likely to get complacent and ignore it. could a more experienced user explain - i am doing something wrong ??

My Girlfriend and I were in the Lake District in April 2005 and we found that there were very few fixed cameras, but the mobile sites all looked like viable places where a mobile speed trap could be set up. Have you read the guides on the database and how to install it on a system like yours?

There are some guides that should be read (in the following order):

The beginner’s guide to the PocketGPSWorld camera database.
This explains about the different camera types and about categories and subcategories, so that you can decide how you want the database on your unit.

Depending on whether you have TomTom Navigator on a Pocket PC or TomTom GO, please read either:

How to install (camera database) POIs to TomTom Navigator 5.
This guide explains how to load the PocketGPSWorld camera database onto a Pocket PC running TomTom Navigator 5.

How to install (camera database) POIs onto a TomTom GO.
This guide explains how to load the PocketGPSWorld camera database onto your TomTom GO.

The above guides may look lengthy and complicated when first seen. However if you grab a cup of coffee and read each one thoroughly then they should make sense as they have been written in a step-by-step way, for ease of reading.

thanks- i didnt realise i had posted it in the arong area. i do find the site a little confusing at the moment and am not used to where things are !!! i cant find a button that says "go to forum" ??

i will read the guides - the pocketgps fiel came with the tom tom navigator i bought on ebay so may be out of date. i will update.
