map updates for tomtom go 300

Hi i am new here and just got my new tomtom 300 and its a really nice peace of kit but just got a question about the maps.i have noticed the maps are out of date wen it came out of the box is there a way to update them or do i buy them.

the maps are usually released each year have a look at mikes visit to the teleatlas HQ in news section this will help explain why the maps run behind
