directions supplied gps unit.

New user after much reading. Current software as of October 05.

I opted for the usb version connecting the gps unit to the laptop since mine
doesn't have a serial unit.

The delivered unit was marked 'ps2' on the box, and the hardware
terminated in a ps2 connector, with a patch lead through to the usb
connector.

Whilst holding the unit, I dropped the 'tail' and the usb connector fell apart,
which doesn't auger well for in-car use.

When I rang directions I received the reply 'Never heard of this happening'.

Most ps2 connectors I've seen are laid in the dust behind a pc. I can't
see it staying connected whilst in a car, certainly not if its left hanging.
I note others on this forum have mentioned not using the supplied gps unit.

Anyone else had this problem, or is it my imagination?
