Hi all

I got home late a week last friday and left my wallet and phone in my car, and left it unlocked (like a fool) anyway, some little scumbag took the phone and wallet and, luckily for me, ignored the Socket GOS flashing away nicely on the rear parcel shelf (although my bottom tightened a little before I checked to see it was still there!)

I want to move my Socket to the boot area where it will be less noticeable (especially at night), has anyone used a rerad aerial for this or something similar? I would also be interested to know a bit more about the external aerial, how it attached to the car (magnetic?) lengths of cables etc.

Any info appreciated.

Laughing Out Loud. I like it. Not too bothered about your phone and wallet going missing, but you were about the Socket BT

Actually crime is still pretty high, the amount of times I've locked the car with the central locking key to come back to find it's unlocked again. I think it has a mind of it's own sometimes. It's probably quite sensative, and putting it in my pocket and walking away the unlock key is pressing.

Moving the Socket BT to the boot will be okay, you will have a much reduced signal though. Using a ReRad 45 you could get around this, but you'll need entry to the boot from within the car. Most cars allow this with foldable seats or through the parcel shelf depending on whether you have a hatch or a saloon. The ReRad will need to be plugged in to the accessory socket. You could quite easily run a 4-way block like I use from the accessory socket under say the drivers or passenger seat (it's only 1m flex) but this could be extended easily. You could then have the ReRad 45 stick antenna velcro'd in the rear window and the magnetic patch antenna could probably either feed out of the boot, or one of the rear doors if it's a 4/5 door car onto the roof.

Hi Dave

Sorry been working away and on holls so just catching up really, still a bit confused?

The outer part of the aerial is magnetic? Could this go onto the lip of the boot lid? If so, how secure is it, is it jet wash proof? (Don't use carwash's)

I have power int he boot for the DVD player and have spares there, I plan to put the Socket GPS on top of the DVD player, the "Internal" part of the re-rad, I guess this jst needs to be in the boot near the socket too?

Thanks in advance.

Definately jet wash proof. In-fact I have trouble removing it from my car the magnet was so strong. If you haven't read the review, or seen any photos check out the Re-Rad45 Review.

The gray square patch antenna sits on the roof of the car (magnetic) and the stick antenna with the velcro pad goes close to the receiver you want to re-radiate the GPS signal to.
