I have recently bought a HAICOM GPS receiver with Tomtom Navigator 2. I have used it a couple of times and it seems to work well in general except for rare occasions when the receiver loses track of the satellite or at least it lost signal.

As I didn't do much research before buying it (it is the cheapest in the market) can anyone provide me with their thoughts on the Haicom receiver? The Haicom receiver looks cheap though. What is the best receiver in the market for pocket PCs? Thank you.

Which Haicom have you bought? There's several models, and there are at least two completely different designs (the cheaper products use an Evermore GPS chipset, the excellent HI-303MMF uses the SiRFstar IIe/LP chipset).

Dave,

I have the Haicom HI-203E, which I believe is the cheapest in the market. Is this realiable? Should I upgrade and buy another receiver? What would you recommend for mouse type? and for sleeve type (I saw one in a US website going at US$250. See http://www.transplantcomputing.com/igpsj.html)?

PS : what is the difference in terms of performance and reliability of the Evermore GPS chipset and the SiRFstar IIe/LP chipset? As I'm using an IPAQ 3950 (no CF card capability)

Thank you.

Hi,

I have a Haicom HI-202e Usb that i originally purchased for my laptop, i now use navman 3400 and tomtom navigator on my ipaq.

I was wondering if it would be possible to convert the usb plug on the haicom reciever to fit an ipaq, as far as i know it uses the same chipset as the pda version reciever and runs at the same voltage, does anyone have any info on how to convert it or can i simply buy a cable ready made?

Thanks in advance...
