Has anyone else seen this weird thing. I can poodling along a Motorway and it says continue for 20/30 miles or whatever. Then I hear it says prepare to turn off and I look at the map and it shows me getting off going around the junction and getting back on again. When I ignore it sometimes it just continues and sometimes it recalculates.
So far its done this to me several times.

Yes this can happen alot. Actually I was using TomTom Navigator 2 and took the wrong junction coming down the M6 to the M42 and stayed on the M6 to London (for me that was incorrect), and TomTom didn't route me incorrectly, it's just a tricky junction and I wasn't looking what I was doing, but strangely enough anyone who knows this junction will know there's a lot of road works going on, and new bridges are being put in place with slip roads that aren't actually useable. I came off one a slip road at the next junction, doubled back on myself and TomTom tried to route me up this dirt track to a bridge I saw, and I thought initially it wanted me to go under the bridge, but no it wanted me to drive up the dirt embankment which looked sort of like a slip road to re-join the motorway. Luckily I had more sense and started driving back further and TomTom then realised I was closer to another junction and had me join it there.
TomTom isn't the only app that does this, many others do to. I've seen this with Navman quite a bit. Sometimes logic flies out of the window and the apps suddenly think it's a good idea to do this. No real explanation why. I kind of think of it as they want to give you a bit of a challenge! |
