can anyone help i have been told because i have a tinted windscreen and having problems recieving a fix that i need a booster external reciever I am confused what to get i have a bluetooth tomtom reciever that i have had for two years so isn't the new one using tomtom 5 with a dell axim pda i have seen ones advertised but confused which one fits and also have variouse prices thanks

I think what you need is an external aerial. I have a heat reflecting screen, but I find if I put the sat nav on the side window it works no probs.

Or you can put the bluetooth receiver in the back window (assuming you are in a car) as they don't often have the reflective screen.

Apparently there is normally an area of the front screen that does not have the reflective coating applied to it just for the purpose of letting in the signals. It is "normally" near the rearview mirror, so try putting the receiver there.

quite right sharpeye, there is an area behind the rear view mirror, I tried that and it works, problem then is the power lead from the cig lighter socket, it got in the way and so I moved the unit to the window at the side of the dash, which gets a better signal anyway.

thanks for help the usual seems to be working ok just now but will keep in mind if i get anymore problems i am not sure if there is alot of sunlight reflecting on the screen sometimes causing the problem but now the clowdy days are here now it seems ok once again thanks Laughing
