I'm thinking about getting either a TomTom GO 300 or 700. I really like both but wanted to hear some people's opinions on the two, and which features I should really look at on both. Thanks so much. |

Do you want/need handsfree functionality. If yes then get the 500/700. Do you want/need full Europe coverage, if yes then get the 700.
if you need neither get the 300. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thanks for those links. I don't necessarily need the hands free but I like having it as an option. Is the hands free alone worth the additional cost over the 300, or are there other features that I should consider? |

If you are going to use it in Great Britain only, the 300 will probably be enough. Unless you really need the handsfree phone (you still get the traffic and weather, if you want it)
But if you think you might need the GO for a European trip - even to one country - then the 700 may work out cheaper. The card for France alone is almost £100. Or the European maps are £100 plus on CD and you will need a larger SD card (£50?) to put some of the countries on. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

I'll probably be using whatever I decide to get (300 or 700) in the US. What would you suggest for someone in my shoes? |

Looks like the 500 is not an option for the states, so it looks like is down to whether you want handsfree (plus services available on both models with a compatible phone) and additionally maps of Canada which would be the 700. If you are not fussed about the above then the 300 maybe the best option. Depends whether you want to spend an extra $200.
BTW check out this link for compatible phones instead of the previous link. The is the US one. :D

Hi DavidHobbs,
Does the USA GO 300 have all states on one map, or does it have a number of map sections (each with a few states) plus an extra map MRA (Major Routes of America)? I.e. can you easily navigate from any point to any other point in America with a 300 using a single map, or do you need to change maps?

I don't have the 300 yet, but from what I understand, all states are mapped out together. It is not separated state by state. Is this correct? |

I've been away from the TTG world for some time, but I'm considering upgrading from the Classic to the 300. Will the mains charger from the Classic work with the 300? Sorry if this has been asked before! |
