Hi all.
I'm one of the brave types of people that figure they can work technology out as they go along. I've had a Toshiba PocketPC E335 (limited to PocketPC 2002, thanks for nothing Toshiba) for sometime now and barely use it. But recently my father purchased some manner of awesome GPS handheld and I recall spotting the Canada GPS site with the reasonably priced Holux GR-212 and matching E330/E335 cable, so I ordered it.
After installing Holux's PPC USB driver, I was able to plug it into my car lighter and pick up 7 signals. Everything now seemed ready for some GPS software testing.
Unfortunately here's where I've been floundering, and hoped some of the more experienced could lend a couple of pointers.
MS Pocket Streets & Trips: Sucks. It detects my GPS fine, but doesn't center my location. Mainly because I'm from Ottawa, Canada, but MS's Ottawa map is only downtown Ottawa. Also, it seems to just center, assuming I nav to a location where it might show up on the map at all.
TomTom 5: Don't know. Apparently it only supports PPC 2003, not PPC 2002. Did TomTom 3 support PPC 2002? I don't know. TomTom's site looks great, but is almost devoid of any useful information. I did find the list of supported PDAs (http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=4&query=toshiba&FID=3101) the E330/E335 is missing, but there are other support Q/As that include E330 support. So I'm guessing PPC 2002 isn't supported anymore.
Any other GPS software might be worth purchasing? Remember, I live in Ottawa, Canada, but would like to use this GPS during any road trips I might take, and I'm interested in Street Routing with sounds/speech. (I've no interest in squinting at my PDA map while I'm driving)

Have you had a look at Mapopolis?
I haven’t tried Mapopolis for a while, but the great benefit is that you get to trial the software and map data for nine days. Mapopolis also has a reputation for good support.

I'll second that. Mapopolis has it's quirks (they all do) but worth a look.
Check out the forum at http://www.gpspassion.com/ too, they have quite an active Mapopolis forum including people from Mapopolis and beta test releases if you are that way inclined. _________________ Gone fishing!
