I've built up quite a sizeable amount of kit for using in my car, and am having power problems.

I've got the following:
- iPaq 2215, with Fortuna Bluetooth GPS
- Nokia 6230
- iPod 20GB 3rdG

In terms of mounting, I've got the complete Brodit set for my Clio - 2 x Dashboard mount and 1 x Angled mount, with Active holders for all - quite an expensive option, but great look, and easy to use!

The problem I have now is that for long journey's I need to have all three plugged into the power side of things. I've tried a splitter type unit, which I bought from a car-boot, that acts as a sort of adapter, however it doesn't provide enough power to the iPaq or iPod for them to stay charged.

I'm thinking I've got one of two options:
- buy an adapter that will work: however I can't seem to find anything that matches what I want; or
- think about a bit of tinkering with the car, and fit a couple of extra cigarette lighter fittings, or something along those lines.

Can anyone make any recomendations?

Cheers

I'd go for an adapter before I even came close to thinking about tinkering with the car itself.

Mike,

Does it definitely provide enough power to charge multiple devices, including an iPaq?

Cheers

To answer that you need to check what the power capacity of the existing outlet in the car is rated at - they are normally 10 or 15 amps these days, your kit will only need 1 or 2 amps at the most, anymore and it is probably going to be on fire!
I made my own unit from a plug and three sockets from Maplin, I would have purchased a built up unit but they had run out.
If there is an option in settings for the IPAQ to accept USB charge and fast charge speed then make sure they are selected. I know I have these options on the 4700 - Mike
